Become a Donor

Quick links

  • Overview
  • Sperm donation
  • Egg (oocyte) Donation
  • Embryo Donation
  • Known Donation

Donating your sperm, eggs or embryos is a meaningful way to help individuals and couples who are unable to conceive due to infertility, genetic conditions or other challenges.

We recognise that donation is a personal decision involving emotional, physical and ethical considerations. Our dedicated donor team is here to support you with clear information, guidance and care throughout the process. All donors must meet specific medical, legal and eligibility criteria to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. By choosing to donate, you offer others the gift of hope and the possibility of creating a family.

Contact Concept to become a donor.

Sperm donation

Eligibility criteria for clinic-recruited sperm donors:

  • Be an Australian permanent resident, aged 21-45 years
  • In good physical and mental health, with no history of inherited conditions
  • Not donated sperm at any other clinic worldwide
  • If married or in a de facto relationship, partner consents to the donation
  • Willing to undergo infectious, genetic, and psychological screening
  • Willing to donate altruistically and without discrimination
  • Consent to identifying information being made available to any donor-conceived children resulting from the donation once the child(ren) reach 16 years of age

Sperm donation process:

  1. Initial Enquiry – Contact our Donor Coordinators to discuss eligibility, the donation process, and expectations.
  2. Semen Analysis – It is important that donors have normal healthy sperm, so a semen analysis is required.
  3. Infectious Disease and Genetic Screening – All donors must complete medical and genetic screening to confirm their health as a donor.
  4. Fertility Specialist Assessment – A medical check-up is required to assess your current and past health and to obtain a detailed family medical history.
  5. Counselling – There are many important implications surrounding sperm donation, so it is important to be fully informed prior to commencing the donation phase of the process. All donors must attend at least two implications counselling sessions. If you are married or in a de facto relationship, your partner must also attend counselling.
  6. Donation Phase – Concept has dedicated collection rooms to complete sperm donations, that will each be carefully assessed and stored by our skilled science team. Please ensure you have photo identification with you at every donation appointment. Sperm donors can expect to complete 10–20 donations.
  7. Quarantine – Three months after your final donation, you will be asked to have another blood test to reassess your infectious disease status. Confirmation of clear results allows your samples to be released from quarantine and made available for allocation to recipients on Concept Fertility’s waitlist.
  8. Documentation & Consents – The Donor Coordinators will email you multiple consent forms for completion throughout the donation process. These must all be completed and returned to the Donor Team prior to being cleared for treatment to commence.
  9. Reimbursement – Concept recognises the valuable commitment made by donors. Although the donations must be altruistic and no payment can be made for donations, you can be reimbursed for expenses incurred during the donation process, including travel to and from the clinic.

Egg (oocyte) Donation

Eligibility criteria for clinic-recruited egg donors:

Confirmation of clear results allows your cohort of eggs to be released from quarantine and made available for allocation to recipients on Concept Fertility’s waitlist.
  8. Documentation & Consents – The Donor Coordinators will email you multiple consent forms for completion throughout the donation process. These must all be completed and returned to the Donor Team prior to being cleared for treatment to commence.
